Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Olayinka is an award-winning, social impact entrepreneur, anti-racism worker, and wholistic health advocate. On her spare time, she is a self-proclaimed fashion model— thanks to her sister and best friend who are both photographers and occasionally need a muse. ;) At home, she's known as mommy to three beautiful girls and married to her best friend + love of her life.
Olayinka received her Bachelor’s in Sociology with a minor in Government/Political Affairs from Millersville University. She then went to D.C. to work in Congress (Office PA-14-Pittsburgh) before returning to Lancaster, PA where she co-founded social impact beauty brand Melanin Essentials. Melanin Essentials, which was named the ASSETS 2016 Great Social Enterprise Pitch winner, finalist in Fast Company’s global “Faces of Founders” business competition, and more recently named a 2018 SVC Innovation Entrepreneur. What started out as a congressional office role has now shifted into Olayinka’s life mission to decrease the racial wealth gap in America through entrepreneurship, public policy, and community building. In 2018, Olayinka became one of the founding members of Dismantle Collective, a person of color-led group of Certified B Corps to name, disrupt, dismantle white supremacy and the Political Advocacy Lead for WeTheChange, a group of women led, certified B Corporations, and other purpose-driven enterprises. Olayinka is also leading program initiatives at Common Future to advance equity in entrepreneurship. |
